The movements with small complications
860P movement
Moon-phase indicator, self-winding
Manufacture Piaget 860P self-winding mechanical movement with moon-phase indicator.
The 860P movement is a variation of the 800P movement and has retained its double barrel. It is a self-winding mechanical movement with a large astronomical moon. Positioned at 6 o'clock on the dial, it displays the moon phases in a large aperture of 12 mm — a clear Piaget design preference by the watchmaker.
Controlled by an extremely fine gear train, it will lose or gain only one day in 122 years. A wheel of 135 teeth drives the rotation of the moon mask which, as the name suggests, hides and reveals a second disc symbolizing the moon. Created entirely in gold, this pellet was boiled then cooled to better represent the surface of the moon with all its craters, so that each moon used in the movements is unique.
Circular Côtes de Genève, a circular-grained mainplate, bevelled bridges, blued screws and an oscillating weight engraved with the Piaget coat-of-arms add the finishing touches to this movement and are reminders of the Swiss watchmaking brand's high aesthetic values.
