Self-winding movements

Piaget Self-Winding Watch - Luxury Swiss Watchmaking

The year 2006 saw the launch of a new generation of self-winding mechanical movements developed by the engineers and master watchmakers at the Piaget Manufacture. At the top of the range is the 800P, with central hours, minutes and seconds hands, large date, and two barrels guaranteeing a 72-hour power reserve. This 12-line movement, measuring 26.8 millimetres in diameter, generates the traditional frequency of 21,600 vibrations per hour (3 Hertz), and can be adjusted by a balance with screws. The 850P version displays small seconds and a second time zone on two sub-dials, complemented by a day/night indicator synchronised with the central time zone. Excellent readability was the guiding principle in the design of this movement. The expertly hand-crafted finishing, such as the engraving of the Piaget crest on the oscillating weight, nobly enhance the technical sophistication of this impressive horological feat.
